BJP National Council sets tone for 2019 Poll campaign

With the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in sight, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party formally kicked off its mission 2019 at the party’s national convention at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan.  Party workers from across the country are participating in the two-day convention.

In his inaugural address, BJP’s national president Amit Shah listed the Modi government’s achievements and tasked the workers with taking that message to the voters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was thanked and praised for Govt’s decision to grant 10 percent reservation in education and employment to economically backward citizens in the general category and also for giving relief to SMEs in GST.

On the Ram temple issue, Amit Shah said the party is committed to its construction constitutionally.

The BJP President trained his guns on Congress President, Rahul Gandhi.

Terming the 2019 elections as extremely important for the country, Amit Shah said the election is a direct face-off between two ideologies. Attacking the opposition alliance.. he pointed out that they had failed to stand together ideologically, bit have now joined hands with the sole aim of defeating Narendra Modi.

Amit Shah said that in the last five years BJP had come to power in 16 states from 6 states earlier and has transformed into the world’s largest political party. Terming the UP Assembly victory as historic, Amit Shah said that in the 2019 polls too the party will win more than 73 seats from UP, as it did in 2014. He recounted the achievements of the Modi government.

Gas connections and toilets for women, homes to 2.5 crore homeless, electricity to more than two crore people, under the Saubagya yojana, 50 crore people given health insurance under Ayushmann Bharat. On the security front, Amit Shah said tough policies of the NDA government had led to a reduction in terrorism, infiltration, and left-wing extremism. Besides, the Govt gave OROP to ex-servicemen. The Modi Government has increased India’s global stature. Stringent measures have been put in place to prevent bribery, corruption, black money and the use of fake companies.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh presents Agriculture resolution at BJP’s National Council; Resolution highlights major achievements like increasing budget allocation, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj presents a resolution for welfare of the poor.

Prime Minister will address the convention on Saturday, directly speaking to party workers in an election year. This has been the largest BJP National Council meeting till date, in which local level workers are participating. Three resolutions including on Poltical and economic issues will be adopted at the convention.
