Parliament clears historic Quota Bill

The Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, a day after it was passed by the Lok Sabha.

The Rajya Sabha passed it after a division with 165 members voting in its favour and seven against. The House saw a lively debate which lasted over eight hours.

PM Narendra Modi tweeted: Delighted the Rajya Sabha has passed The Constitution (One Hundred And Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019. Glad to see such widespread support for the Bill. The House also witnessed a vibrant debate, where several members expressed their insightful opinions.
