Friday was a day of faith, belief and devotion. The birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated across the country and the world with traditional fervour and gaiety.
Kartik Purnima was also celebrated on Friday as the culmination of the holy month of Kartik. Thousands of devotees, bathed and visited temples to celebrate Kartik Purnima.
Guru Purab is celebrated as the day of reverence and a reminder for the devotees to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak. Several functions were organised to mark the occasion.
PM Modi visited the Delhi residence of Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal..and participated in Gurubani.

In Bhubhaneshwar, devotees bathed and visited temples to celebrate Kartik Purnima. They also set afloat toy boats with lighted lamps which is also known as Boita Bandana.
It is hoped that this festival will only spread brotherhood, and love all across the country.
Kartik Purnima was also celebrated in Nepal.
