J&K: Curfew imposed in Doda & Bhaderwah

The situation in Kishtwar town, following the shooting incident, remains tense but under control. The army has conducted flag marches and additional forces have been deployed in sensitive areas.

No untoward incident has been reported. A manhunt has been launched for the gunmen. Unknown gunmen had fired upon and killed BJP’s state secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar on Thursday night.

The Parihar brothers were returning home  around nine pm, when the incident occured, in a lane close to their stationary store. Politicians across party lines have strongly condemned the murders.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Vijay Singh, adviser to the governor and said that the police will leave no stone unturned in  apprehending and punishing the guilty.

Several BJP leaders including Minister of State in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh visited Kishtwar on Friday and stood in solidarity with the Parihar family.

Meanwhile, security forces neutralized a terrorist in Handwara area of Kupwara district.

On specific information the Security forces launched a search operation in Handwara, and were fired upon by the terrorist, who was subsequently neutralized in the encounter. The affiliation of the terrorist is being ascertained.
