Yet another milestone in India Bangladesh ties that takes PM Modi’s neighbourhood first policy further. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina jointly participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline Project through video conferencing.

Work has also begun on the 3rd and 4th line on the Dhaka-Tongi section, as well as doubling of tracks in Tongi Jaidevpur section. India has granted a credit line for 17 projects to Bangladesh. Out of this 9 have been completed so far. Over the last 10 days, India and Bangladesh have begun work on 5 joint projects, illustrating the strong ties and increasing co-operation the two nations share.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the pipeline will infuse fresh energy into India Bangladesh ties.

This pipeline will connect Siliguri in West Bengal in India and Parbatipur in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh. The estimated project cost will be 346 crore rupees and it will be completed in 30 months time. The capacity of the pipeline will be 1 million metric tons per annum.
