He also urged every local to contribute towards making the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas next year a big moment for Varanasi. PM also took the opportunity to assure the people of the city that efforts are being made to clean River Ganga from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar.
With this one press of a button, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted Kashi with development projects, cumulatively worth more than Rs. 550 crores. The projects include the inauguration of Integrated Power Development Scheme for Puraani Kashi and foundation stone laying for the construction of 132 KV Power Sub-station. Prime Minister also inaugurated an Atal Incubation Centre at BHU.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Madan Mohan Malviya the founding father of BHU. In keeping with his vision, PM laid the foundation stone for Vedic Vigyan Kendra. He said these projects will help Varanasi to attain new heights, uniting modern infrastructure and development with the spiritualism of Kashi.
He also kick-started work on the Regional Ophthalmology Centre at Benares Hindu University. Prime Minister also distributed 260 flour mills under the Kumbhakari Udyog Yojana as well as 500 honey boxes under the honey mission.
This is Prime Minister Modi’s 3rd visit to Varanasi this year. And each time he has gone to his constituency bearing gifts for the area. In March Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Kashi-Patna Janshatabdi Express between Manduadih Railway Station in Varanasi and Patna. He also laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth over Rs. 800 crores. Then in July, Prime Minister gave the city projects cumulatively worth over Rs. 900 crores. These included the Varanasi City Gas Distribution Project and the Varanasi-Ballia MEMU train. Several projects under the Smart City Mission and Namaami Gange were also started.
