Udaipur. A savage triple murder outside the OPD of gynec department of the government Mahatma Gandhi hospital in Banswara on Saturday morning stunned the people and left them terrified. A 65-year-old man and his two sons were attacked brutally by few men over a long standing property related rivalry. Shabbir Mohammad son of Sikandar Ali resident of Indira colony , and his two sons Shareef and Shahid were standing outside the OPD when suddenly few men arrived in a car and attacked them with iron rods and sticks. Shabbir and Shareef died on spot while Shahid died during treatment in Udaipur hospital later evening.
Tension prevailed inside the walled city as the murder news spread and minor violence reported from a lane in the interior area. To curb hate speeches and messages that began circulating on the social media, internet services was suspended for 24 hours. Police launched a search operation to nab the assailants while additional forces have been deployed at every nook and corner of the city to prevent any violent incident following the murders. ” Situation is completely under control, we have set of teams in lookout of the assailants. Prima facie it is told there were two men involved in the attack, we are interrogating people to know the exact figure” KaluRam Rawat, SP Banswara told Udaipur Kiran. Though the autopsies have been conducted and the bodies have been handed over to the family, final rites are to be performed yet, the officer said. Meanwhile, family members of the victims informed the police that the burial would be held after Shahid’s body reached Banswara from Udaipur by night.
According to the eyewitnesses, the victims were slashed several times on their body, head and neck . Unprepared for the sudden assault the father and sons couldnt do much to save themselves and even the people were too shocked to intervene as before anyone could realise what had happened, two men had fallen dead in a pool of blood while the third one gasped for breath. Sources said the assailants were Pannalal and his brothers Dungar and Naresh Sargada who bore animosity with Shabbir Mohd and his family for past 10 years over a property dispute. Several cases of physical assault had been pending against both parties at police stations and court. On Friday too, both the parties had quarrelled and hit each other and police complaints were lodged from both side. Medical examination was conducted to assess the injury and Shabbir and his sons had gone to the hospital in the morning to meet the medical officer in this connection, police informed.
While they were waiting at the hospital, to set the score, Pannalal also went there with his brothers and men and attacked Shabbir and his sons brutally, sources claimed. The mutual rivalry was tried to give a communal colour by some anti-social elements who circulated hate speeches and objectionable comments on the social media. The administration sprung into action and recommended suspension of internet services to maintain law and order in the district which was sanctioned by the divisional commissioner. Eight administrative officers have been appointed as duty magistrates while 23 patwaris have been assigned supervision of sensitive areas. Some stone pelting incident took place inside the interior city lane, however, no casualty was reported till late evening.
