Electricity reached Chhattisgarh’s Pakhnarcha village 1st time in 70 years

Pakhnarcha village in Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur district has got electricity for the first time since the Independence.

It’s the vacation time for Dhiraj Karma as schools are closed for the summer break. But there is no change in his study schedule. The sole aim is to make his parents happy so that he can get a TV of his own.  Dhiraj’s mother Lachhandei is also happy because now children can study even at night. There is only one television in the entire village, that too given by someone.

Gora has been using kerosene lamp for all these while, but now the electric bulb has replaced the traditional lamp. Her husband doesn’t need to go to other villages for charging his mobile.

Tribals from Bastar region of Chhattisgarh lead simple lives and don’t have high ambitions. All what they seek is fulfilling their basic needs.
