IMD warns of severe dust storm in next few days across northern India

The government has asked the officials for taking precautions as per alert issued by the MeT department to save people.

In Uttarakhand, disaster management department is maintaining vigil due to inclement weather and asked all district officers to be cautious. 

In Uttar Pradesh,  death toll in dust wind, thunder and heavy raining related incidents has risen to 76. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed ministers to visit the affected districts to monitor the relief operations and provide financial and medical relief to the affected families. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved an ex- gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to dust storm in various states of northern India on May 2.

The PM also approved Rs. 50,000 each for those seriously injured in the storm.
