Heavy Rains To Continue Over Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Idar, Deesa

Gujarat floods claim nine lives; NDRF, IAF come to rescue

Many parts of Gujarat continued to witness heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday as well. Cities of Ahmedabad, Dessa, Idar, Rajkot and Kandla suffered the most. In fact, some of these areas even witnessed three digit rains wreaking havoc over the cities.

Due to these heavy rains in Gujarat, flood conditions continue over many parts of the state. During the last three days, over thousands of people in Morbi, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Surendranagar and Ahmedabad districts have been shifted to safer places. Rescue operations continue in full swing across the state. Meanwhile, major roads of the city were also flooded leading to a traffic jam on Sunday.

In a span 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Deesa recorded 248 mm of rainfall, Idar 112 mm, Ahmedabad 64 mm, Kandla 38 mm, New Kandla 21 mm, Surendranagar 11 mm, Rajkot 8 mm, Bhuj, Surat and Vallabh Vidyanagar recorded 7 mm, Bhaunagar 3 mm, Porbandar 2 mm and Amreli 1 mm.
