New Delhi: Venting out his anger on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for allegedly trying to politicise the suicide of ex-servicemen over One Rank One Pension, Union Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh on Wednesday said ‘OROP should be kept away from politics’.
“Rahul Gandhi must not politicize the issue. The reason for his suicide being reported is OROP. However, we don’t know what his mental state was. The matter needs to be investigated,” VK Singh said while speaking to ANI.
The Delhi Police today detained Rahul Gandhi after the latter tried to meet the kin of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal, who allegedly committed suicide over the delay in implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP).
Rahul was stopped close to the gates of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here when he attempted to enter the hospital premises to meet the family members of the victim Grewal.
Expressing his ire over not being allowed to meet Grewal’s kin, Rahul took a dig at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said ‘What sort of country is being created (by Modi government?) For the first time in the history of India, we are not being allowed to meet the family of our soldiers.”
Rahul was released after 70 minutes in detention.
