Zico, Carlos exude confidence

The defeat in the last match against FC Goa was a stern warning for Delhi Dynamos.

It squandered a 2-0 lead and suffered embarrassment in the dying minutes, losing 2-3, to set up a repeat clash on Friday in the first leg of the semifinals of the 2015 Hero Indian Super League at the Nehru Stadium here.

The win placed FC Goa on top of the ISL league table with Delhi slipping to the fourth slot.

“The semifinal is of 180 minutes, so tomorrow, nothing will be decided. We have to keep performing like we did in the first half of the last game (against FC Goa).

“For us, this is going to be a nice game. We will do our duty but the match will be decided in Goa,” said Dynamos coach Roberto Carlos.

“I want to take Delhi to the final. For me, finishing second or third is like finishing last” Carlos added.

FC Goa coach Zico noted, “Our players are a little bit more experienced from last year, so they are more used to such situations. But this is a completely different team where we changed about 15 players. Not just us, even Delhi is a completely different team (from last year).”

The FC Goa coach added, “I hope we can improve. Last year we got to the semifinal and lost. This year, we hope to win and reach the final. There were a lot of expectations from us and we played good football and a fair game. Thank God, there are no injuries.”

The lack of spectators has been a sore point but the home team is praying the turnout would be much improved.

Crowd support can make the difference and Dynamos would look for motivation from the stands in what is expected to be a thriller, given the penchant of the two teams to play attacking football.
