Pakistani journalist Chand Nawab roughed up in Karachi

Pakistani reporter Chand Nawab, who shot to fame after he inspired a character in Salman Khan’s hit film “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, was roughed up along with members of his television crew at a railway station in Karachi.

Nawab, who works for 92 News Channel, and his colleagues were allegedly beaten by railway officials and police while he was reporting on the scalping of train tickets ahead of the Eid festival, according to reports in the Pakistani media.

His channel said Sindh minister Nisar Khuhro had taken notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry into it. It said it had also brought the incident to the notice of Pakistan’s railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.

The police alleged Nawab had misbehaved with officials and said there was no scalping of tickets.

A video of the incident posted on social media showed Nawab ducking after at least two men tried to hit him while several policemen stood nearby.
