Bajaj Auto’s new Pulsar AS 200 priced at Rs 91,500

The AS200 is priced at about Rs 91,500 and the AS150, which is a referred to as its junior cousin, has been priced at Rs 79,000. Other than the aggressive pricing, the intriguing fact is they have part of Bajaj’s plan to launch one new bike every month beginning January this year. One can expect further launches going down the road. As far as these bikes are concerned, there is a sense of optimism that is expressed by Bajaj Auto. They are confident this will stimulate market demand in the above mentioned segment.

Speaking above and beyond the launches, Rajiv Bajaj hit out at the government with respect to various foreign trade policies (FTP) in the latest trade policy. He went on to argue that certain stocks that have been removed from the auto space are going likely towards exports. For export driven auto company such as Bajaj Auto, a large section of its topline will be derived from exports. He also elaborated on his strategy in domestic market arguing against offering discounts going ahead. With the first mover advantage it is hoping to realise the 20 percent earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) margins that the company has targeted so far.

On April 13, 2015, Bajaj Auto closed at Rs 2100.45, down Rs 0.15, or 0.01 percent. The 52-week high of the share was Rs 2690.00 and the 52-week low was Rs 1900.00.


The company’s trailing 12-month (TTM) EPS was at Rs 102.16 per share as per the quarter ended December 2014. The stock’s price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 20.56. The latest book value of the company is Rs 332.04 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company is 6.33.
