Alcatel’s press event that the company held on the eve of MWC was one of the more intriguing ones. It wasn’t because the company announced a great number of devices, as they had focused on one, the OneTouch Idol 3. Believe it or not, that actually means two smartphones, which pack as many differences as similarities.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 comes in two sizes, sporting 4.7″ and 5.5″ screens, explicitly targeting different users. The differentiation shows up in the specs as well, with the two versions packing chipsets on opposite ends of the midrange.
Either way, the duo’s headline feature is reversible conversation. With a symmetrical body, you’d be forgiven to draw your phone out of your pocket wrong side up. The company has come up with a fix for that perceived issue, by fitting speakers and microphones top and bottom.
We got a brief hands-on time with the OneTouch Idol 3, and are ready to share the experience with you on the next page.
