Though the TD government in Andhra Pradesh had raised the retirement age from 58 to 60 years in June last year soon after coming to power, the TS government had refused to follow suit. If the maximum age limit for government recruitment exams is increased to 40 years in TS, selected candidates will be left with only 18 years of service. However, candidates from reserved categories will get a relaxation of another five years.
The increase in maximum age limit, however, will be applicable to only non-uniformed services. For uniformed services like police, excise, fire, prisons, forest departments etc., there will be no increase in the maximum age limit.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who has speed up the process to make the newly-constituted Telangana State Public Service Commission fully functional from March, has given his nod to issue the TSPSC’s first notification to fill over 150 engineer posts in the Rural Water Supply Department. The TSPSC is making arrangements to issue the job notification soon. The government is expected to issue orders increasing the maximum age limit to 40 years before that to enable TSPSC to include it in its notification.
