Union urban development minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, today said that the Centre has no role in the ongoing political crisis in Bihar, and asked the Janata Dal (U) to stop the disinformation campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Janatal Dal (U) … the name is united. And Janata Parivar … there is already a ‘War’ in Parivar. They want to blame Modi and the Centre. Who asked Nitish to resign (from the chief minister’s post) and who asked him to make Manjhi as the chief minister and why is he now asking him to resign?” he questioned.
Speaking to mediapersons in Hyderabad, Naidu asked Janata Dal (U) on why it was resorting to this Delhi drama of parading MLAs before the President at a time when the Assembly was meeting on February 20. “You settle the issue in the Assembly,” he said.
“First, they staked claim to form the government and now they want to be recognised as the main Opposition party. The corrupt, communal, communist and casteist elements are all joining together against the BJP. Our party has to prepare itself to face the challenge,” Naidu added.
Stating that Narendra Modi was as popular as he was, Naidu said BJP won seven out of eight states, besides winning 14 out of 14 corporations in Madhya Pradesh last week.
BJP won a handsome majority in civic bodies, leaving Congress far behind. Just yesterday, even in Assam, where BJP was comparatively weak, it won 38 out of 74 municipalities, while the ruling Congress won only 17 municipalities against 71 that they held previously.
“The Opposition parties should, in fact, ponder over why they are getting decimated. Some of them have vicarious satisfaction that BJP could not win the eighth state after winning seven states,” Naidu said.
