According to the prediction of most exit polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to form government in Delhi,after Delhi looked set to surpass its highest ever turn out in the Assembly elections.
An exit poll conducted by India Today-Cicero suggested AAP heading towards a comfortable victory with 35-43 seats and the BJP getting 23-29 seats and Congress inching towards its worst performance with only 3-5 seats. These exit polls were however conducted till 3 pm.
The ABP-Nielsen exit polls suggested AAP will 39 seats, BJP 29 and the Congress only 3.
The C-Voter exit polls showed AAP winning 31-39 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly inching ahead of the BJP which is projected to get 27-35 seats and the Congress will merely fetch 2-4 seats.
In terms of vote share, the battle is neck-to-neck as AAP is expected to gather 42 per cent of the votes, BJP is likely to get 40 per cent and the Congress managing to touch the double-digit figures of 11 per cent, C-Voter exit polls suggested.
Meanwhile, a survey by Today’s Chanakya group, which came the closest in terms of predicting the previous Assembly election results, showed 53 per cent of the Delhi voters wanted AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal as the chief minister, 36 per cent voiced for BJP’s Kiran Bedi and 6 per cent in favour of Ajay Maken.
Till 5 pm, 63.46 per cent people came out to vote. Last year, the voter turnout was over 65 per cent.
