Micromax unveils the Canvas Hue, available on January 16

Micromax has launched a new smartphone in India today. It’s called Canvas Hue, and it will become available to buy starting on January 16, which is this coming Friday.

The Canvas Hue has a recommended retail price of INR 10,999, which at the current exchange rates means about $ 175 or €149. So what do you get for that amount of cash?

Well, the Micromax Canvas Hue has a 5-inch 720p AMOLED touchscreen with Gorilla Glass 3, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, and a 2 MP front snapper. Running the show is an unnamed 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, aided by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage (which is expandable via microSD).

The phone has dual-SIM functionality baked in, an FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and mobile data connectivity which tops out at HSPA+. Keeping things nicely juiced up is a 3,000 mAh battery, which is quite ample for the specs and should ensure decent use times.

The Canvas Hue runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
