Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has said that it will focus more on entry-level 4G devices in Q1 2015, adding that the company will promote these as well as specially designed models online. That’s a marketing strategy similar to the one followed by China’s Xiaomi, which recently became the world’s third largest smartphone vendor.
According to Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, the company is also expecting a double digit growth in shipments next year. He also noted that sales of HTC’s RE mini camera, which was launched earlier this month, have been strong, with the company expecting over 20,000 units to be sold by the end of the year.
“HTC began to market its mid-range HTC Desire 820 dual-sim in cooperation with Chunghaw Telecom (CHT) in November and will release HTC Desire 820 single-SIM in January 2015”, Tong said.
