Operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi came to a standstill this morning after visibility dropped due to dense fog.
At least 97 flights have been delayed by more than 15 minutes due to bad weather in New Delhi, while 76 flights arrived late by more than 15 minutes to Delhi during the day, according to a bulletin by Indira Gandhi International Airport. Meanwhile, 59 flight were also delayed for different other reasons, it added.
Departure of seven flights were cancelled on Monday due some unidentified reasons, while arrival of three flights were cancelled for the same reason, according to the bulletin.
Low visibility procedures at Indira Gandhi International Airport was initiated at 3.12 am and was terminated at 2.50 pm. Meanwhile, 140 flights operated during the low visibility procedure hours at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday.
Dense fog has also disrupted train services during the first half of the day. While final numbers could not be ascertained, more than 50 trains were delayed in the first few hours in the morning while many were rescheduled.
Not just Delhi, services were also disrupted at Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Agartala, Patna, Jammu, Varanasi and Chandigarh due to low visibility.
Operations at all other airports across the country were normal.
