While emphasizing the Look-east policy of the Prime Minister, Shri Kiren Rijiju described priorities of Union Government to develop infrastructure in North-East region and welcomed the Japanese companies to come and invest in the area. The Minister also appreciated the Japanese side for the documentary being prepared on the North-East by them. He emphasized the long standing cultural ties between India & Japan, and also suggested the option of investments in Buddhist circuit tourism sector in North East, including the hospitality sector. The delegation was updated about the special provisions for Japanese Nationals regarding the Residential permits.
The Japanese delegation flagged some issues relating to resident permits in case of employment visa and various hurdles like taxation/GST difficulties they are facing at State/District levels even after signing MOU with Centre. They requested for intervention & the Minister assured them all help in faster resolution of the problems.
