Inter exam meet fails to reach consensus again

Education NewsMr Narasimhan asked both the state governments to resolve the issue keeping students’ welfare in mind. Sources however, said that the TS government put forth a strong argument and said that their proposals were in tune with the Reorganisation Act.

Speaking earlier, AP HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said his government would fight till the end for common exams. Sources said the Governor told the officials to talk to their respective ministers and revert. He said the students’ interest should be kept in mind by both governments while taking a decision. However, both sides stuck to their guns and put forth their arguments.

The Telangana government officials told the Governor that they are proceeding as per the Reorganisation Act and it does not prohibit separate Intermediate exams or force common exams on the two states. In fact, TS offered to hold Intermediate exams for AP as well, but the latter insisted on common exams. Another source said that it will take more time before a consensus is reached. The source said that though a final decision was not taken, significant progress was made on Wednesday.
