Currently, there are 13 IIMs in the country and six more will come up in 2015 in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Central teams have been visiting various places in the district to scout for suitable land for the institution.
A five-member team also visited Anandapuram mandal a couple of days ago. Andhra University Vice Chancellor Prof. G.S.N. Raju said, “We were asked to provide temporary accommodation for the IIM on the campus. We are proud that the region will be getting such a prestigious institution.” The varsity had allocated a new building that was constructed and donated by the Andhra Bank.
