The course covers the basics like usage of solar energy in day-to-day life, demand for solar energy business and tips for marketing and troubleshooting skills during field work. The course is open to all graduates and is offered at a cost of `3,750, which includes the cost of study materials and equipment. “The main advantage of the course is that after its completion, the students will get a financial assistance of `2 lakh from the state government,” explained R Venu, coordinator of the Skill Development Centre, Vijayawada.
Buoyed by the favorable response, the SDC is also planning to launch another training programme in solar technologies to train youth and aspiring entrepreneurs in solar technology. “The solar entrepreneurship course has also helped us improve our communication and management skills,” said S Sumavanth, who has successfully completed the first batch.
The SRR and CVR Govt College, which is going to launch job-oriented certificate courses shortly, will also offer the solar entrepreneurship course. An orientation programme has already been conducted for the new courses.
