Mayaram further transferred to Minority Affairs Ministry

Arvind  Mayaram, who was transferred as the tourism secretary from the finance secretary’s post, has got another posting within a fortnight.

The earlier  order of  posting him  to the tourism  ministry was cancelled on Wednesday and he will now be serving at the ministry of minority affairs.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved both the orders.

Meanwhile, expenditure secretary Ratan Watal will take additional charge of economic affairs for  a month or till the time  Rajiv Mehrishi  joins.

Mehrishi had been appointed  as economic affairs  secretary in place  of Mayaram. Mayaram was essentially the economic  affairs secretary but  being the senior most  secretary in North  Block, he  also became the finance secretary.

Mayaram’s transfer  from the finance ministry had  surprised many in North  Block as well as outside since he was retained to play a key part in Jaitley’s maiden Budget for 2014-15 even as he was considered close to the Congress.

He would now replace Lalit  K  Panwar  in the ministry of minority affairs.
