HRD Ministry kicks off All India Survey on Higher Education 2014-15

Education NewsThe Ministry of Human Resource Development has recently launched the All India Survey on Higher Education 2014-15 (AISHE 2014-15), which will include all the institutes of higher education in India. It is an annual and web-based survey, which seeks to conduct a pan-India study on the state of higher education in the country since 2010-11.

Till date, MHRD has issued the final reports of AISHE 2011-12 as well as the provisional reports of AISHE 12-13. These are available in the public domain. The survey is being conducted for four years in a row now. However, the AISHE 2013-14 which launched in June this year, is still in progress. Since the AISHE 2014-15 has kicked off in October this year, the time lag for dissemination of higher education data has been done away with.

The AISHE survey conducts research on various parameters such as faculty details, student enrolment, different programs, accreditation, Results of examinations, infrastructure, education finance, Scholarships, etc. The data is utilized to formulate policy decisions and in conducting research in the area of education development.

The survey has created a reliable and exhaustive database, which is updated every year on the basis of information provided by the institutes.

The MHRD and the government of India have come up with several other recommendations, initiatives and policies to revamp the education system of the country.
