Retailers see 25% demand uptick on festive fervour

This Diwali that has come in significantly earlier than last year is likely to be a strong festive season vis a vis the year ago.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Rakesh Biyani, Jjoing managing director, Future Group and Nilesh Gupta, managing partner, Vijay Sales share their outlook on this festive season and what it may mean in terms of sales.

Gupta is confident of clocking better sales as he sees atleast a 20-25 percent uptick in demand on positive market sentiment.

“Earlier, we saw either a flat or merely single digit growth,” says Gupta who believes the rest of the year is likely to pan out positively for retailers.

Agreeing with Gupta, Biyani says the Future Group has added 2.6 million new customers to its loyalty program hinting at a demand revival.
