Help realise Gandhi’s dream of Clean India: Modi

Launching his pet ‘Swacch Bharat’ (Clean India) campaign today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean India is still unfulfilled and that the people should come together to clean the nation.

Talking about the campaign logo, Modi said, “It is not just a logo, through it Gandhi is watching us, asking as when we will clean India. Be it a mandir, masjid, gurudwara or any other place, we must clean our surroundings. We must change.”

“We have reached Mars. No PM or Minister went there. It was the people who did it, our scientists who did it. So can’t we create (a Clean India),” he asked.

Urging the nation to change its mindset, Prime Minster Modi said, “Is cleaning only the responsibility of the Karamcharis? Do citizens have no role in this?”

“This campaign is above politics, this is purely due to our love for the nation. This campaign is for 125 crore people and I will say this 125 crore times. Government and ministers can’t do it alone,” he added.
