Deputy Commissioner of police (Crimes) and chief guest T Ravi Kumar Murthy advised the students to be aware of cyber crimes and use technology only for the good of the society. Cyber crimes were being committed by lottery system, opening fake accounts in Facebook, face morphing and online jobs, to name a few. People should not share their confidential details like passwords, PIN and contact numbers online. Any such crimes should be reported immediately to the police so the criminals are taken to task, he added.
Additional DCP (Crimes) S Varada Rajulu explained various cyber crime cases that occurred in the city. The cases were increasing due to greediness among people, he said. “Educated people, friends, graduates and any person can trouble you. So, be aware,” he cautioned.
AU vice-chancellor GSN Raju observed that more youngsters were falling prey to cyber crimes nowadays. The cops gave a presentation on cyber crimes. ACP (East) DN Mahesh and AU Science College Principal CV Raman also spoke.
