Jammu-Srinagar highway re-opens after 14 days
Taking stock of the situation in border districts Rajouri and Poonch of flood ravaged Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said the state government must carry out relief and rehabilitation work in a planned manner.
“We should learn from this disaster and rebuilt and rehabilitate in a planned manner,” he said.
Asking officers to work on war footing to restore the essential services and public utilities, Omar instructed the district administration to ensure proper rehabilitation of affected persons.
The strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway was also re-opened for vehicular traffic Tuesday after it remained closed for 14 days.
The over 300-km highway is used to route through all essential supplies into the landlocked Kashmir Valley.
