Gujarat government will be rolling out red carpet for the Chinese President Xi Jinping visiting the state on September 17. Xi who will be accompanied by a high power delegation will be greeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Ahmedabad city airport. Later in the evening Modi will host Xi at a vegetarian dinner at the Sabarmati Riverfront in the city.
The Chinese delegation will be signing two memorandum of understandings (MoUs), one with the state government and other with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for exchange and sharing in economic and cultural sectors. While the Chinese Development Bank will sign third MoU with Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), Government of Gujarat for promotion of industries and industrial parks in the state.
The Chinese President will be welcomed by Modi at the Ahmedabad city airport. He will be given a glimpse of state’s traditional folk dances which will be followed by the Guard of Honour. From the airport the two leaders will go to a city hotel where the official from the Gujarat state and province of Guang Dong and Guang Zhou will sign MoUs. The officials of Chinese Development Bank will sign MoU with iNDEXTb officials in presence of Modi and Xi.
The two leaders will be having a one to one talk for about 20-30 minutes at the hotel before leaving to Sabarmati Ashram to visit Mahatma Gandhi’s home. There Modi will guide Xi to various facets of Gandhiji’s life through the tour of the Ashram. From there Xi will go for dinner at the Sabarmati Riverfront where he will be treated to mix of Gujarati tradition and culture through dance forms and songs.
“Chinese President Xi will be treated to a pure Gujarati vegetarian cuisine during the dinner to be hosted by Prime Minister Modi,” Gujarat government spokesperson Nitin Patel said. There will 22 members, 11 from China and 11 from India who will be having dinner with Xi and Modi, he added. According to Patel, Xi will be the first top leader of any country to visit Gujarat on first day of his tour to India.
Entire city of Ahmedabad, wherever Xi will be passing through, has been decorated with and posters welcoming Xi in Chinese and Hindi. The entire stretch of the Sabramati Riverfront and the Sabarmati Ashram has lit with colourfull sparkling lights.
