DMK donates Rs 25 lakh for PM’s relief fund

The DMK today pledged a sum of Rs 25 lakh towards the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for contributions towards relief activities in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.

Party chief M Karunanidhi expressed grief over the loss of lives in the floods and expressed sympathies with those affected.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Tamil Nadu ally MDMK general secretary Vaiko has announced a donation of Rs 10 lakh towards the relief fund on behalf of his party.

Over 200 persons have been killed in the worst floods to have devastated the northern state in a century, prompting Defence forces, among others, to launch extensive rescue operations.
