Fans of fine cooking and food trucks unite as the fifth season of The Great Food Truck Race is all set for the premiere on Sunday, August 17th at 9pm ET/PT. The show is about food, about trucks, about the new food truck operators, about hard challenges, and of course, the grand prize of $50 000 plus the winner of the show will also get to keep the food truck they used during the show.
This season the high-stakes culinary road trip starts from sunny Southern California and takes the eight participating teams to the beaches of Key West, Fla. All the teams are rookies who are not current food truck operators, but who do have the skills, entrepreneurial spirit and fresh concepts to one day own their own food truck business.
During the trip from California to Key West the teams will have to compete in a number of challenges including but not limited to making and selling Sonoran hot dogs in Tucson, hand-rolled ravioli in St. Louis. Not only the cooking skills are important, but also the sales strategies and the teams creativity.
The show is set to premiere on Sunday, August 17th at 9pm ET/PT. Hosted by Tyler Florence, the seven-episode season is sure to bring excitement to all the fans out there.
“Watching these young entrepreneurs hit the road to test their cooking skills and marketing savvy against the backdrop of different cities and food cultures is inspiring and entertaining,” said Bob Tuschman, General Manager and Senior Vice President, Food Network. “The food truck industry has become a very viable way to enter the culinary world, and we love giving the winner the keys to their new career.”
