BJP parliamentary board says Narendra Modi is its PM candidate

BJP chief Rajnath Singh said that BJP parliamentary board has decided to make Narendra Modi PM candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Rajnath Singh told the press conference: “We have had a tradition of declaring the Prime Minsiterial candidate of the party in the year that elections are being held to the Lok Sabha. Since we expected the polls to be held between 2013-14, I called for the Parliamentary Board meeting.”

The meeting was attended by the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, senior BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, Murli Manohar Joshi and Venkaiah Naidu. Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani did not attend the parliamentary board meeting.

The decision to convene the panel meeting came after Mr. Rajnath Singh held a meeting with Mr. Advani.
